Wine lovers best know the two ways of understanding wines: one by the variety and another, by region. Wine grapes are different from the usual ones we get at the stores. There are thousands of grape varieties grown in different vineyards of the world.

Wines made with one type of grapes are called single variety wines and wines made from several different grapes are called blend or varietal. Red grapes make up the majority of the wine grapes grown in the world.

Market Study reveals that the world`s fastest expanding grape varietals are Tempranillo, Syrah, and Caber Sauvignon. Some of the most popular vine varieties worldwide are:

  1. Cabernet Sauvignon

 It is the most popular wine grape planted in the world. This red grape was first planted in Bordeaux region of France. It is known for its full bold tannins that give it a bitter and astringent taste.

Cabernet Sauvignon wine also grows well in the regions of Napa Valley in California.

  1. Merlot

It is a dry red wine with its origins in the Bordeaux region of France. This wine region with roughly 300, 000 acres of vineyard is known for its polished blends like Cabernet-Merlot. Merlot often has a higher percentage of alcohol than other red wines.

 It is the most popular wine in the US. This variety is grown in many parts of the world. Its origin is in Burgundy. White Burgundy wine is made from 100% Chardonnay white grapes in Burgundy. It is a type of Red Dry Wine that has its origin in Burgundy (France). It is one of the most sought after wines in the world. Burgundy is known for its sublime single varietal terroir Pinot Noir.
