Why is it that women always seem like they have perfect skin, and men’s skin are oily? Some might say that it is a sign of masculinity, that men should just accept the conditions that they were born with. But women’s secret to perfect skin is not that they are necessarily born with it. Women work at it to have good, well taken care of skin. If men want to have good skin, then they will need to start doing the same!

Be Careful About The Soap You Use

Typically, the solution that men will try is a good, old-fashioned bar of soap. Unfortunately, it usually works a little too well. Since regular soap is not designed to purify your skin but to clean it, the result is usually that your skin becomes too dry. This can lead to itchiness and an overall feeling of discomfort, leaving you with another problem that you have to deal with, and still no viable solution to your oily skin. When you are shopping for soap and shampoo, read the label. Avoid anything that is too harsh. Instead of going for the regular bar of soap, get face-wash soap that is specifically designed for cleaning your skin without drying it out.

You Can’t Scrub The Acne Off

Oily skin is often accompanied by its’ long-time companion, acne. Just as men think that hitting their computer will resolve a technical issue, they also tend to think that if they scrub really hard, they will scrub the acne right off. If you are doing that, then know that you are maximizing, not minimizing the problem. Similarly, washing your face multiple times every day will not help. Your skin is soft and you need to be gentle with it. One or two washes per day will suffice.

Use A Facial Mask

Oily skin will typically lead to clogged pores, compromising your overall appearance. If you are truly interested in combating that, then you should give a men’s facial mask a try. The facial mask will do all of the deep-cleaning for you and it will absorb all of the extra oil in your skin. Typically, you will only need to use it a few times every week. That is a small price to pay for the results.

Exfoliate

It should not come as a surprise to you that you cycle through skin cells. When a new one grows, you shed the old ones. Your cells are always reproducing. In fact, it is common wisdom that every seven years, you will have replaced every cell in your body. But what happens to the old, dead cells? Well, sometimes they are lying on your face. This may be one of the reasons that you are suffering from oily skin. They can also clog pores and accommodate an ingrown hair. Exfoliation will scrub your face of these dead skin cells.

Use Moisturizer

It may seem a little counter-intuitive. Why would you put moisturizer on your oily skin? By definition, moisturizer should moisten your dry, accumulating oil, right? That would be something like throwing gasoline onto a fire. Well, while it may seem counter-intuitive, moisturizer is an effective combatant of oily skin. Of course, it will depend on the brand that you use. Read the label. Try to find something that is oil free. Then, right after you get out of the shower, while your face is a little damp, pat the moisturizer on.

Be Careful With Your Shaving Products

If you have one of those foot-long beards that seem to be trending right now, then you will not have to worry about this one. Everything that you put on your face will impact how your skin cells react. If you put alcohol-based shaving cream on your face, that alcohol will absorb the oil on your skin. But that is not the end of the story. You skin cells will react by overcompensating with excess oil. The moral of the story: read the label. If it is an alcohol-based shaving cream, move on to something else.

Eat Fruit And Vegetables

I know that it seems something like another cliché. Every time I hear somebody talking about how to maintain health and wellness in a particular area, they are always talking about diet. We know. But there is a good reason that it is so common. First, people often do not practice it. Second, it actually does work. If you make a habit of eating fruit and vegetables, drinking water, and maintaining and overall better diet, you will see a marked improvement in your oil problem.

Take It Easy

Life can be stressful, I get it. You need to do so much work, keep up with the bills, care for the kids, and it can all pile up. But all of that stress is likely having a negative impact on your skin. Do something to relax yourself. Learn how to manage your time and productivity. Exercise more. Do not play with your face so much. All of these factors can contribute to your skincare. I was surprised when I learned about how much of my daily life impacted my skin. But knowing and practicing these things, I can say that I am in much better health.
