Many people really wonder why a grown man or grown woman would still watch Naruto Shippuden or watch anime at all?! I will give you some perspective on why some people hang on to this anime.

Here are a couple of common things I’ve heard people say concerning Naruto or Naruto Shippuden:

  • Why the hell do you watch it?!
  • It’s so childish
  • It’s just animation, it’s not real
  • You should grow up

I understand your concern. If you care about the person you’re worried about. Take some time to read this Naruto break down. It’s worth it.

Naruto has a very realistic storyline

Anyone who doesn’t watch animes or doesn’t know anything about Naruto could probably never understand why one would watch such things at a grown age. You’d think that one would just grow out of this stuff, right?

The catchiest thing about Naruto is the Naruto story. The way the storyline builds up. The main character, Uzumaki Naruto grew up without his parents. As a results of his loneliness, he loves to do lots of stupid things just to get everyone’s attention. He wanted to be seen, to be noticed and acknowledged. He had no parents to give him the basic attention that any child needs. Plus, he was cursed.

Naruto is not the toughest guy, he is not the most popular dude in town, absolutely not the smartest guy either and most people don’t even like him. So besides the unnecessary mess he always leaves behind, Naruto has a life goal; to become the village’s Hokage. Being the Hokage literally means: ‘Fire Shadow’. The Hokage is (sort of) king or president of Konohagakure (Naruto’s village), a title bestowed on the village’s leader. The Hokage is generally regarded as the strongest shinobi (ninja) in the village. That’s what Uzumaki Naruto wants to become. He goes through lots of fights, confusion, hardships and losses before he gets to that point.

You will recognise real emotions when you watch Naruto Shippuden

When watching Naruto, you will deal with:

  • Anger, hatred and revenge
  • Loneliness
  • Depression and happiness
  • Love and hate
  • Hope

I could go on, but I’m sure you understand where this is going.

Naruto handles Real Life Situations

Similar to the title above, there’s plenty of realness in this anime. Corruption for instance. At some point in the story, it becomes clear that many countries had some corrupted ways of handling situations. To gain power. To control people. This stuff only happens in fairytales. Not in real life, *cough*!

Naruto is actually not for kids only

Kids will find this anime fun to watch because of the cool fight animations. They’re not in it for the conversations or sideline stories and fillers. Kids just want to be entertained. Conversations in Naruto can be really deep and nurturing. Grown people actually want to understand the underlying message of each stage of the story. And things get more serious and super complicated as the story progresses. If you ask me; I don’t think Naruto is for kids at all.

If you’re still convinced that Naruto is for children, then I recommend you watch series like The Walking Dead, The 4400 or Heroes. Because those series are more serious, more realistic and grown. *COUGH*
